still landscape

Heusden is a small fortified town in North Brabant, characteristically surrounded by ramparts and water. Still Landscape is a visualization of my view of Heusden in summer. Trees in full leaf protrude above the ramparts, in the distance a shadow of a cloud falls on the landscape….

Colored pottery, cast in a plaster mold. Finished with very matte glaze and beeswax. Using beeswax keeps the clay underneath visible and you can see exactly where I sanded, scraped and sponged at the mold. Just as a landscape tells you what happened (or could have happened).
